A Beautiful Family Stay with a Few Rough Edges
8/10STORY Seychelles has so much going for it. The location on Beau Vallon beach is simply stunning, and the rooms were immaculate — spotlessly clean, well air-conditioned, and with seriously comfortable beds. The cleaning team deserves real credit for maintaining such a high standard throughout our stay. The beach and pool area is gorgeous, and Sanjeev was a real standout — attentive and informative on a daily basis. The welcome from the valet and luggage team on arrival was warm and thoughtful, with cool towels setting a lovely tone. Andrew from the concierge team also deserves a mention for his proactive communication throughout our stay. The Ripples Pool Bar was a convenient and enjoyable spot, and the 1502 Bar was a pleasant place to wind down in the evenings, with staff who were clearly dedicated and working hard.
There are some operational areas that need attention. The room key card was a persistent issue throughout our stay — working only one time in ten — and despite multiple visits from reception and security to rescan, re-code, and replace the battery, it was never fully resolved, ultimately leaving us with no choice but to leave the patio door unlocked, which felt unsafe. Check-in had a noticeable wait and the receptionist made us feel uncomfortable by hovering with the card machine when we simply needed a few minutes. Breakfast at Vasco's was let down by slow replenishment of cutlery, bowls and glasses, and inconsistent coffee from one morning to the next. The 1502 Bar, while staffed by a willing team, was visibly understaffed on busier live music evenings. Finally, sustainability communication was lacking throughout — we only discovered the hotel had bikes available on the day of checkout, which was a real missed opportunity.
