Our weeks holiday in Madeira
10/10Our stay at Quinta da Bela Vista was excellent the staff were friendly and the food was delicious, dining experience was top notch. Breakfast was also very good although buffet style catering there was never any problem having freshly cooked food. We were lucky to upgrade our bedroom with a small additional cost to obtain a better view of the tropical garden, the bedroom was comfortable and what you would expect by staying in a country manor house in the uk. The pool area was useful for a departing lunch pre flight. All in all good value for money with excellent service. My only gripe was the weather during our stay. March is a difficult month even in Madeira?

Enchanting old school charm
10/10I think this is what hotels used to be like many years ago. Personal service, beautiful grounds, people who genuinely want you to enjoy your stay. Although it dates back 40 or 50 years the main property is 200 years old and every corner is filled with beautiful Antiques. The gardens of very well kept, the pool and Jim lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Very unusual to find a place like this and we will come back

How hotels used to be
10/10Opened before Madeira's mass-tourism boom of the past quarter-century, this is an establishment that feels more '50s than late-'80s (when it, in fact, opened)! On the plus side (and the pluses far outweigh the minuses), this means that the bedrooms, though perfectly comfortable, display an almost monastic restraint in their decoration; blissful to find beds not piled high with stupid cushions! There's also a feeling of quiet professionalism among the very friendly staff, many of whom give the impression of having been there for ever. And every meal comes complete with a flurry of tablecloths. On the flip side, some of the facilities can feel a little bit dated, and things which would (hopefully) come as standard nowadays, like access ramps for those with limited mobility, have not yet been invented here. The many repeat guests, however, attest to the appeal to those for whom tranquillity is more important than the latest bells and whistles.

Wonderful late winter stay.
10/10Beautiful hotel set away from the centre of Funchal. Very pretty, well tended gardens, heated pool, great food and fabulous attentive staff.

Excellent staff and service
8/10Quaint hotel with traditional furnishings set in lovely grounds. Bit out of the way but transport is readily available. The food was very good, hot, tasty and well presented. What really made this hotel though were the staff, they are amazing! Very professional, polite and helpful but managing to blend in just the right level of friendliness to make you feel very comfortable and relaxed.

Peaceful location and beautiful hotel and gardens
10/10This was my first time to Madeira and I had sought out a more peaceful hotel away from the busy coastal stretch. I was not disappointed. I was delighted with the hotel, my spacious, quiet bedroom, the peace and quiet of the beautiful gardens and the stunning views. The food was first class. I ate in each of the three eating venues and each offered something special. Breakfasts in particular provided an amazing choice of food. Over and above all of this was the superb staff team. I was impressed by much but the courtesy and attention to detail by staff was just super impressive. In particular as a single woman travelling alone I felt that the staff showed particular care. It was clear that many guests were repeat visitors to the hotel. I would return in a shot. I had one of the best holiday retreats ever. Thank you so much to all the staff and management.
