Seychelles for a slower kind of luxury
A week among Mahé, Praslin and La Digue, where luxury is beach access, granite scenery and enough time not to rush the ferries.
Seychelles luxury is less polished theatre than natural abundance: sculptural granite, forested interiors, clear water and beaches that look designed but are not. The question is whether you want one beautiful base or the movement of island-hopping.
The Seychelles feels expensive in the best way: not because everything is dressed up, but because nature has done most of the work.
Why stay longer
Tourism Seychelles is the official body responsible for marketing the islands as a preferred tourist destination, while Seychelles travel material commonly frames the Inner Islands around Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.
That three-island structure is why a week helps. Mahé gives arrival ease and scale, Praslin gives beach quality and access to smaller islands, and La Digue slows everything down.
How to spend the week
If you dislike moving hotels, choose Praslin or Mahé and day-trip lightly. If the journey is part of the pleasure, split the week between two islands rather than trying to collect all three in a hurry.
Keep beach days loose. The Indian Ocean looks effortless, but wind, tide and season can change which side of an island feels best.
Where hotels matter
On Mahé, choose for restaurants, road access and arrival ease. On Praslin, choose for beach proximity. On La Digue, choose for atmosphere and a slower scale.
For luxury, the strongest hotels are the ones that make nature immediate: a beach you can reach barefoot, shaded outdoor space, and enough privacy that the island still feels quiet.
